The purpose of this course is to introduce students to public health preparedness and emergency
management. Regulations, policy development, and legislation are addressed from the public health
perspective. Students learn the steps for managing an emergency and how to craft emergency management plans.
Natural disasters, biological, chemical, and nuclear weapons, and biosecurity threats are presented in the
course. An emphasis is placed on a coordinated approach among public health professionals and other first
responders.
Prerequisites
